Choose Your Own Adventure.

Camp Cyclone is the perfect place for your child this summer. We offer sports, academics, music, art, and so much more. Whether your child wants to learn how to surf or wants to learn fundamentals from an NBA superstar, we have exactly what you need to keep your kids active and engaged.  We're open to the public, for any child ages 5 and up!

Our camps are broken up into AM sessions (9:00am - 12:00pm), PM sessions (12:30pm - 3:30pm), and Full Day camps (9:00am - 3:00pm). Lunch is included for full day camps as well as for registrants who are signed up for both AM and PM sessions during the same week.

If your camper is only signed up for an AM or PM camp, you can sign them up for lunch and coverage from 12:00pm - 12:30pm for an additional $50 fee. This lunch option appears under each AM or PM camp option on CampBrain.

We will offer childcare each week, from 3:30pm - 4:30pm, for an additional $50 fee. This childcare option appears under each PM camp optoin on CampBrain.

Musical Theatre Bootcamp: Shrek Jr. (two-week option) (ages 8-16)
Join us for our 8th summer of Musical Theatre Boot Camp’s production of Shrek Jr. Step into the spotlight this summer at our Two-Week Theatre Camp, where young performers will experience the full journey of bringing a production to life! Over the course of two exciting weeks, campers will do everything from getting your script, auditioning, rehearsing, and performing a Musical! This full day camp culminates in two fully costumed and staged performances of Shrek Jr!

Join us for our 8th summer of Musical Theatre Boot Camp’s production of Shrek Jr. Our one-week option gives young performers the experience of bringing a production to life as a part of the ensemble. Week One, campers will do everything from getting your script, auditioning, and rehearsing. Week Two campers will gain experience rehearsing and performing the Musical Shrek Jr! We encourage students in the single week option to participate fully, as they will gain valuable practice and experience. Floor is Lava (ages 5-7)
Watch out!  Ms. Dorito is bringing "The Floor is Lava" to life. Students will study the inner-workings of volcanoes and earthquakes, what causes them, their effect on the ecosystem, and much more. Learn about Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii, Krakatoa and Mount. St. Helens. Build your very own Volcano! Students will get to use their creative minds and play a variety of games including "The Floor Is Lava"!

Barbie Dreamland (ages 5-7)
Welcome to Barbie Dreamland Camp, where imaginations soar and every camper becomes a star in their own story! This week-long adventure is packed with creativity, excitement, and sparkle as campers explore the enchanting world of Barbie. From arts and crafts to role-playing in Barbie-inspired settings, kids will create lasting memories in a dreamlike atmosphere of fun and friendship.

WePickle (ages 5-8)
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It’s adaptability makes it an ideal choice for individuals of diverse  abilities and ages. This rapid growing sport has transcended traditional boundaries  and has become a symbol of inclusivity and community.  

The objective of WePickle is to introduce and promote the sport by providing an  intro to pickleball class at Porter-Gaud School. The class aims to provide  students with a structured recreational activity that promotes physical fitness,  social interaction, teamwork, and skill development.  WePickle aims to create a positive and inclusive experience for everyone. By  offering this class, we have the opportunity to enhance the overall well-being and  enjoyment of the students while fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.

Junior Cheer (ages 5-9)
Led by the Porter-Gaud Varsity Cheerleaders, Junior Cheer is designed to introduce participants to every aspect of being a Porter-Gaud Cheerleader!  Campers can expect to learn Porter-Gaud Cheers, cheerleading jumps, safely practice stunts and tumbling, and build friendships with the PG Cheerleaders and other campers!

Youth Boys Lacrosse (ages 5-10)
Join Porter-Gaud’s Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coaches and Players, winners of six of the last seven SCISA State Titles, for an action-packed week of fun and learning! This camp is designed to introduce youth boys to the fast-paced, exciting sport of lacrosse while building a strong foundation of skills and confidence.  Through engaging drills, small-sided games, and competitive play, campers will learn the FUNdamentals of lacrosse, including passing, shooting, ground balls, cradling, and basic defensive techniques. Campers will also be introduced to key concepts and rules of the game.

Explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with LEGO® and Bricks 4 Kidz!  Our camps are led by experienced teachers and inspired by the idea of edutainment while building a strong interest in STEAM for kids aged 5-13. Matt Neighbors Football Camp (ages 6-11)
Join Porter-Gaud’s Head Football Coach for an exciting week of football! This camp focuses on building fundamental skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Game Design with Bloxels (ages 7-14)
Bloxels EDU is a super fun way to make your own video games, art, stories, and more without needing to learn computer code! This program is all about the design of games. With Bloxels, you stop just playing games and start becoming a confident digital creator! You'll get to practice being creative, working with others, solving problems, and sharing your ideas. We will use game boards and storyboards along with the Bloxels app to give you lots of different ways to design your own games.

Dance Moves: Glitter and Glam Fashion Camp (ages 8-12)
Where style meets the spotlight! Get ready for a fabulous week filled with fashion, creativity, and movement! Campers will mix, match, and design outfits using our huge selection of costumes, learn simple hair and makeup techniques, enjoy mini-manicures, and explore all things fashionista. Throughout the week, we’ll blend dance and runway choreography, teaching campers how to walk, pose, and perform with confidence. They’ll work together to create their own signature looks and a short, stylish routine that highlights their personality. The week wraps up with our Glitter & Glam Runway Dance Show, where campers will strut their stuff, show off their curated outfits, and film a fun, fashion-forward dance number for family and friends. Chris Evans JV Girls Basketball Prep (ages 8-16)

Summer Snapshot Advanced (ages 10-14)
Learn all about photography in this comprehensive camp. Instruction will include the fundamentals, the language, and the history of this powerful medium. Campers will travel two of the days on site to some of Charleston's most historic photo opportunities!

As a former Parson's Instructor and professional photographer, I will give your child all the basic knowledge to create a great photograph - including design, concept and composition with fun assignments to practice at home. Soccer Shots is a leader in youth soccer development. Our nationally recognized non-competitive skills program offers a high energy, fun, age-appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. Each day contains the perfect mix of reviewing previously learned and new skills.

Strength & Conditioning (ages 10-14)
Stronger, faster, better.  Join Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach Isaac Rodgers and quickly become a better all around athlete. Get ready to work and learn specific techniques that you can take with you.  Build speed, strength and confidence.  All levels are welcome.

Minecraft (ages 7-13)
Your child will love our Minecraft Camp and you will be investing in their future as they learn vital 21st century skills. They will explore the creative side of computing and learn how to work in a team, while creating 3D worlds in a shared environment. They will also learn about coding using Command Blocks and using Microsoft’s block based Code Builder in the special Education Edition of Minecraft. They will do all this on the latest Windows PCs with Nvidia Graphics cards or on Apple iPads. 

They will discover how Virtual Reality will play a part in their lives in the future, by trying out a selection of VR games and applications, on the latest Virtual Reality Quest 3 headsets.

The week will feature a number of Minecraft build competitions, where they will create a world in teams to a set theme. Each day they will also have short competitions inside Minecraft, such as Hide and Seek inside a custom Minecraft world. Campers will also have breaks to stretch out and play games. 

At our Minecraft camp your child will gain skills in problem solving, creativity, collaboration, communication and team-working.

Movies and Art (ages 5-7)
Art & Movie Camp is a creative, relaxed camp where stories inspire hands-on art and imagination. A full movie plays each day while campers work on a new arts-and-crafts project designed to let creativity flow. This camp is ideal for children who enjoy creative expression, storytelling, and making art in a comfortable, engaging environment.

Super Summer Science (ages 6-11)
Summer is a time for fun and exploring!! Super Summer Science campers will be discovering and investigating the world around them through lots of engaging activities. Participants should be ready to launch “rockets” using balloons, Alka-Seltzer, catapults and even their feet!! As “geologists”, they will “dig up” and classify fossils and explore a natural history museum. As marine scientists, campers will identify types of shark teeth and seine for creatures at the beach. Finally, campers will be using engineering to create solutions to aviation and building challenges. Come join us for some super summer science fun and learning!!

The Knight School Chess Program (ages 6-12)
The Knight School is coming to Camp Cyclone! The Knight School’s secret is “the chess party.” We invite everyone to join our chess team. Disc Golf (ages 8-12)
Headed by PG's very own Mr. Schmieding! Disc golf has become increasingly popular over the years. It is a fun, outdoor sport that everyone can enjoy. The game is simple, throwing frisbee discs at target baskets, and following the rules of golf.

Porter-Gaud now has a 9-hole disc golf course on campus! Your child will learn the rules and basics of disc golf. They will learn various throwing techniques that are used when throwing different discs (drivers, mid-range discs, and putters). Students will practice playing different holes each session and will work to make improvements.

As students progress their disc throwing ability, they will work on different shot shaping techniques such as the hyzer, anhyzer, and tomahawk. During each session we will also play some putting practice games such as HORSE (same rules as HORSE in basketball). The program will end with a 9-hole tournament on the PG campus course.

Your child will love our Minecraft Camp and you will be investing in their future as they learn vital 21st century skills. They will explore the creative side of computing and learn how to work in a team, while creating 3D worlds in a shared environment. They will also learn about coding using Command Blocks and using Microsoft’s block based Code Builder in the special Education Edition of Minecraft. They will do all this on the latest Windows PCs with Nvidia Graphics cards or on Apple iPads. 

They will discover how Virtual Reality will play a part in their lives in the future, by trying out a selection of VR games and applications, on the latest Virtual Reality Quest 3 headsets.

The week will feature a number of Minecraft build competitions, where they will create a world in teams to a set theme. Kevin Jackson designed this camp for the serious player looking to improve his/her skills and fit tactics. They offer training in the skills and techniques used in both outdoor and (Futsal) Indoor Soccer.

There are many opportunities to learn and improve your soccer skills during the summer, but there are few that can offer both indoor and outdoor facilities. Jackson Soccer Development/Elite Futsal Camp is unique because we offer training in the skills and techniques used in both outdoor and (futsal) indoor soccer. The first part of the session will be devoted to the outdoor game. Campers will be learning technical and tactical elements of the game individually and as a team, eventually progressing into small sided drills and game simulating matches. Once play moves inside, athletes will focus on futsal, the only form of indoor soccer that is recognized world-wide. This area of the camp will work on individual foot skills, fast/accurate passing, movement off the ball, defending and attacking in one-on-one situations, and learning to read to game as it is played at a very fast pace.

Escape The Heat! Strategy Games Camp (ages 7-10)
Strategy Games Camp is an indoor enrichment program that allows students to escape the summer heat while engaging in thoughtful, strategy-based play. Campers will explore chess, checkers, Connect Four, Rubik’s Cube challenges, and Stratego, strengthening critical thinking, problem-solving, and sportsmanship in a calm, supportive environment.

Each day follows a two-part structure: the first portion of the session focuses on guided instruction and strategy development, while the second half emphasizes game play, challenges, and friendly competition. Activities are developmentally differentiated by grade level, with Stratego introduced in age-appropriate ways and used primarily with older campers as a deeper strategy extension.

Disc Golf (ages 8-12)
Headed by PG's very own Mr. Schmieding! Disc golf has become increasingly popular over the years. It is a fun, outdoor sport that everyone can enjoy. The game is simple, throwing frisbee discs at target baskets, and following the rules of golf.

Porter-Gaud now has a 9-hole disc golf course on campus! Your child will learn the rules and basics of disc golf. They will learn various throwing techniques that are used when throwing different discs (drivers, mid-range discs, and putters). Students will practice playing different holes each session and will work to make improvements.

As students progress their disc throwing ability, they will work on different shot shaping techniques such as the hyzer, anhyzer, and tomahawk. During each session we will also play some putting practice games such as HORSE (same rules as HORSE in basketball). The program will end with a 9-hole tournament on the PG campus course.

Minecraft Club (ages 7-13)
Your child will love our Minecraft Camp and you will be investing in their future as they learn vital 21st century skills. They will explore the creative side of computing and learn how to work in a team, while creating 3D worlds in a shared environment. They will also learn about coding using Command Blocks and using Microsoft’s block based Code Builder in the special Education Edition of Minecraft. They will do all this on the latest Windows PCs with Nvidia Graphics cards or on Apple iPads. 

They will discover how Virtual Reality will play a part in their lives in the future, by trying out a selection of VR games and applications, on the latest Virtual Reality Quest 3 headsets.

The week will feature a number of Minecraft build competitions, where they will create a world in teams to a set theme. Each day they will also have short competitions inside Minecraft, such as Hide and Seek inside a custom Minecraft world. Campers will also have breaks to stretch out and play games.

Get ready for a super fun and colorful week at Tie Dye Camp with artist Cat Brantley! In this hands-on, creative camp we will explore the vibrant world of fabric dyeing with classic tie-dye, traditional indigo dyeing, and fabric collage to make unique, one-of-a-kind creations.

Campers will learn ancient and modern techniques of fabric dyeing, using a variety of clips and binds used in the traditional Japanese Shibori tie dye methods. Campers will also experiment with indigo dye, a deep blue natural dye, to create stunning indigo pieces. We will have some fun experimenting with batik resist methods, and finish off with a vibrant fabric collage, layering different materials dyed throughout the week to make colorful, textured designs.

Surf's Up! Join the team at Folly Beach with Surfing Guru Gretchen Tate. This camp will meet at Porter-Gaud, transportation and Surf Boards will be provided! Chuck Driesell - Former Coach at The Citadel, James Madison and the University of Maryland, Lieutenant in the Navy and son of Hall of Famer "Lefty" Driesell.

The goal of Coach Driesell’s camp is to help develop a well-rounded, complete basketball player. Our philosophy is to teach the fundamentals of the game along with a proper attitude toward it. We then teach them to be able to incorporate that into a team concept. We work on building confidence, teamwork, effort and sportsmanship, all of which are important to success both on and off the court. Campers range from beginners to accomplished players and are grouped accordingly. The ratio is 10:1. The camp includes a T-shirt and evaluation at the end of camp. Minecraft Club (ages 7-13)
Your child will love our Minecraft Camp and you will be investing in their future as they learn vital 21st century skills. They will explore the creative side of computing and learn how to work in a team, while creating 3D worlds in a shared environment. They will also learn about coding using Command Blocks and using Microsoft’s block based Code Builder in the special Education Edition of Minecraft. They will do all this on the latest Windows PCs with Nvidia Graphics cards or on Apple iPads. 

They will discover how Virtual Reality will play a part in their lives in the future, by trying out a selection of VR games and applications, on the latest Virtual Reality Quest 3 headsets.

The week will feature a number of Minecraft build competitions, where they will create a world in teams to a set theme. Each day they will also have short competitions inside Minecraft, such as Hide and Seek inside a custom Minecraft world. Campers will also have breaks to stretch out and play games.

Happy Minds & Bright Beginnings for Rising 1st Graders! (ages 6-7)
Get ready to learn, play, and grow! This exciting camp helps rising first graders build math and reading skills through hands-on fun. Campers will use games, puzzles, and creative activities to explore math and build words with consonants and vowels. Small-group activities encourage teamwork, sharing, and polite communication as we learn and grow together. Our goal is to help children feel confident and ready for the Porter-Gaud first grade curriculum—all in a joyful, supportive environment led by experienced former Porter-Gaud teachers.

The Cyclone Experience! (ages 6-10)
This experience is for returning and new Porter-Gaud Lower School students only.  Start your Porter-Gaud school year with some of your favorite PG faculty and friends.  This revamped camp is an all encompassing Porter-Gaud experience from top to bottom. This is the best possible way to get your incoming student acclimated for the upcoming school year.  Join us for a week filled with friends, games, arts and crafts, projects and scavenger hunts, all with a PG theme!

Jump Start to 5th Grade (rising 5th graders)
This camp is designed to make the transition into middle school both exciting and confidence-building! Campers will enjoy a fun, supportive environment while strengthening academic skills and getting comfortable with what’s ahead.

Throughout the camp, students will: 

  • Have fun while preparing for the jump into middle school
  • Read and explore the summer reading book through guided discussions focused on comprehension, vocabulary, and key literary elements
  • Participate in writing activities aligned with rising 5th-grade expectations
  • Review important grammar and writing conventions
  • Take a guided tour of the Middle School to become familiar with the space
  • And best of all, campers will get early access to their lockers before the rest of the class returns… woohoo!!

Ready, Set, Play! (ages 5-10)
This program is perfect for those campers that have just completed their morning in The Cyclone Experience and want some more fun and excitement!

No couch potatoes at this camp! Ready, Set, Play is the ultimate youth games program. Soccer, basketball, and kickball are a few sports that will be offered. Unique games such as capture the objects, pin ball, and soccer tag will also be played. Play with Hula-Hoops, Limbo, and learn how to “jump the snake”. Emphasis will be on basic motor skills, teamwork, and FUN! Campers are guaranteed to go home tired each day! Shorts, t-shirts, and athletic shoes are required. An assortment of snacks will be provided at no additional charge.

Seha Karate (ages 5-8)
Seha Karate Owner and Operator, Sensei Pettus, returns with his beginner Karate class. You will learn the basic fundamentals as well as self-defense techniques. The class will promote physical fitness and demonstrate respect for yourself and others. You will learn to practice self-control and you will have the opportunity to earn traditional belt advancement. T-shirt, Belt and Key Chain all provided! Come join us!

Flag Football (ages 7-12)
Join Coach Brown for an unforgettable football experience at Coach Brown’s Flag Football Camp, where excitement, competition, and teamwork come together! This camp is all about having fun while improving your flag football skills and making lasting memories. Whether you're a rookie or a seasoned player, you'll enjoy a perfect blend of practice, play, and friendly competition.

Disc Golf (ages 8-12)
Headed by PG's very own Mr. Schmieding! Disc golf has become increasingly popular over the years. It is a fun, outdoor sport that everyone can enjoy. The game is simple, throwing frisbee discs at target baskets, and following the rules of golf.

Porter-Gaud now has a 9-hole disc golf course on campus! Your child will learn the rules and basics of disc golf. They will learn various throwing techniques that are used when throwing different discs (drivers, mid-range discs, and putters). Students will practice playing different holes each session and will work to make improvements.

As students progress their disc throwing ability, they will work on different shot shaping techniques such as the hyzer, anhyzer, and tomahawk. During each session we will also play some putting practice games such as HORSE (same rules as HORSE in basketball). The program will end with a 9-hole tournament on the PG campus course.

Spotlight Kids: Theatre Games & Improv (ages 8-12)
Step into the spotlight with Spotlight Kids: Theatre Games and Improv, where creativity is about to take center stage! Campers will learn the importance of self-confidence, teamwork, and creative thinking in the theater this week through hilarious games, improvisational exercises, and group activities. Come one, come all, no prior theater experience is necessary!
